The film opens up to viewers a completely new story of Mavka, inspired by authentic Ukrainian legends. The story of the film unfold in an alternative present among the ancient forests of Ukraine. On the eve of the Short Night, mythical creatures emerge from the Dark Lake, and Mavka finds herself faced with a choice: her feelings for an ordinary guy, Lukyan, struggle with the dark nature of the forest nymphs
